Dr Stephen Windley is an accredited Coal Board Medical Examiner, and we conduct these exams at our clinic.

Legislative changes as a result of the detection of “black lung” in some Queensland Miners in 2016 are aimed to ensure coal employees are adequately screened for Coal Miners pneumoconiosis or “black lung”. We have been working closely with the Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines to ensure full compliance through the Healthcare Plus Medical Centre.

Specific requirements are:

  • Lungscreen ID registration of workers (https://portal.lungscreen.com/Registerme.aspx)
  • Approved provider network – including EMOs, Supervising Doctors & AMAs, spirometry clinics and radiology providers
  • Employer Appointed Medical Advisor

IMPORTANT: The information below is a guide as to what to expect at a standard medical:
Top to toe examination by a Doctor
Hearing test (Audiometry)
Lung Function test (Spirometry)
Urine test for blood, protein (this is NOT a drug screen)
The standard medical DOES NOT include:
Extra examination items for Mines Rescue role (please tell us if this is required)
Blood tests
Occupational Vaccinations
Drug and alcohol screen
ILO Chest X-ray (QScan Carindale are an approved radiology practice with B-reading completed via Lungscreen)
Pricing for extra examinations that are not included in a Coal Board Medical
Drug & Alcohol  – $99 (prices vary – depending on which state you are taking the D&A test)
